Terraform Provider for Visual Studio Team Services

In this guide I am making the assumption that the reader is familiar with basic terraform usage. https://www.terraform.io/intro/getting- ... stall.html is a good starting point for those taking their first steps.

account is turned into https://abcdefg.visualstudio.com and is the URL you use when using the web interface.

The token, account and username can either be set in the provider configuration (as shown above) or be set with environment variables:

Using environment variables will mean that you don't need to commit plain-text credential to your config repo.

name is the name of your project. data and source should probably be copied verbatim, unless you wish to override any of those. type should be ADCC42AB-9882-485E-A3ED-7678F01F66BC for Agile, or 27450541-8E31-4150-9947-DC59F998FC01 for CMMI, or 6B724908-EF14-45CF-84F8-768B5384DA45 for Scrum process templates.

Repositories belong to a project, so there must be a project in your terraform definitions.

Resource importing is not available yet.

Installation and system requirements

You'll need a Golang environment. There are numerous guides online so I'll refrain from duplicating that information here.

Clone this repo and then build the terraform binary. I've created a simple Makefile, so you can just use the command make , but you can use the go build command if you prefer.

Once built you can either install the binary to somewhere in the path (such that terraform binary can find it) or you can keep it in the same directory as the terraform resource definitions.

Configure the provider (as shown at the top of this guide) and any desired resources, then run the regular terraform commands such as terraform plan or terraform apply .
